BOSTON —An annual list of potential dangers posed by common summer play gear includes drowning, eye injuries and strangulation.

Boston-based toy safety watchdog organization World Against Toys Causing Harm released its 2023 Summer Safety Report on Wednesday, one week before the official start of summer. The advocacy group’s warnings highlight hazards that parents may not know to look for.

“Scooters have the highest toy-related injuries out of all toys, and that’s just something families may not be aware of,” said Joan Siff, W.A.T.C.H’s president.
